Empathy from a Yankee fan………

Now, before you all get angry because I am a Yankee fan, understand that I know how you all feel.  Back in the days when Steinbrenner was out of control, the Yanks were a laughingstock.  In the late 80’s and early 90’s, they were a shell of what they were and what they have become.  I was crazed with getting George out of the way, because he was involved way too much.  Well, we got lucky and George was banned for two years and the rest, as they say, is history.

As a Yankee fan, I actually want the Mets to be good.  Having experienced the Subway Series in 2000, there is nothing that can match that excitement and generate the kind of craziness that enveloped the city for those few days in October.

The difference here however is George went overboard TRYING to win.  Fred & Jeff seem to always play small-ball.  They always seemed to look for those second-tier players they could get on the cheap.

Yeah, they have (had?) a high payroll, but they were always second class citizens, after-thoughts, little brothers to the Yankees.
